Leatrice Joy Seifert, 90, born October 30, 1925 in Oil Springs, Kentucky, daughter of the late Tillman and Doshia (Saylor) Litteral, passed away November 1, 2015 in Lansing, Michigan.
Joy is survived by her husband of 73 years, Glenn; sons: Bob (Karen), William (Sandra), James (Tina); daughter Marianne (Bruce) Hultgren; 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren; and sister Emily Swan (Grand Ledge). She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Joy was the original Martha Stewart; a full-time homemaker and mother. Joy and Glenn endured the hardships of World War II, and the post-war challenges with a young family. A resident of Grand Ledge and Eagle since 1942, she was the perpetual "room Mom" for her kids in Eagle and Grand Ledge Schools, and was an active member of the Grand Ledge Band Boosters. She volunteered for the Lansing Area chapter of the American Cancer Association and coordinated the annual Carnation Drive for many years. She and Glenn spent 13 winters in Green Valley, Arizona, before returning full time to Grand Ledge in 2008. Her life was her family and her laugh will stay with us forever.
At Joy's request, a private family celebration of her life and memorial service was held on Saturday, November 7 at the Michigan State University Alumni Chapel. For those wishing, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Grand Ledge Lions Club in memory of Joy Seifert.
