Enlisted on 5/23/1861 at Mankota, Blue Earth Co., MN as a Private.
On 5/23/1861 he mustered into "H" Co. MN 1st Infantry
He was Killed on 7/2/1863 at Gettysburg, PA

William Henry Wikoff was born in Pennsylvania on June 20, 1835. Wikoff enlisted in the First Minnesota with other men from the Mankato area.
At the battle of Gettysburg, on July 2, 1863, the First Minnesota attacked an entire Confederate brigade. Company G was on the right flank. Company H and Sgt Wikoff were in line next to them. The rest of the regiment was to their left as they moved toward the enemy. During the ensuing fight, Henry was shot through the heart. He died instantly.
He was buried by his comrades on the field at Gettysburg. However, in October, 1863, his remains were removed and on Oct 24th they were re-interred in the family vault at Easton Cemetery in Easton, PA.
