Dorothy A. Behrens, 89, East Moline, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline. Funeral services are 11 AM Thursday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 PM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 PM. Memorials may be made to the Msgr. William J. Cleary Endowment Fund.
Dorothy was born on November 4, 1926 in St. Ben, NE, the daughter of Nicholas and Mary (Ludden) Dohmen. She married Richard Behrens on April 15, 1947 in Lindsey, NE. He preceded her in death on February 15, 2002. Dorothy retired from the former Y&S Candies, Moline in 1988. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, doing word search puzzles and being with her family.
Survivors include her children; Robert (Janie) Behrens, Streator, IL, Mary Jane (Allen) Smith, East Moline, Dianne (Randy) Paustian, Davenport, Darlene (Tom) Strobbe, Geneseo, Ronald (Connie) Behrens, Maquoketa, IA, Randall (Kathy) Behrens, East Moline and Michelle (Bill) Uphold, Silvis, sixteen grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren (with 2 on the way), a great-great grandson, and siblings, Eugene Dohmen, Columbus, NE, Roseann Craig, Westland, MI and Kathleen Eller, Shelby, NE.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter Tammy VanGoethem, and siblings, Con Loeffler, Geraldine Ryba, Pauline Connelly, Ivan Dohmen and Jerome Dohmen.
