Iris was born November 7, 1909 in Greenville County, South Carolina. On February 24, 1940 she married Robert Lincoln Bohlman, and together they raised one daughter and owned/operated a gift shop in Reno. Iris had also worked as a clerk at Hales Drug Store.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, Trinity Episcopal Church and Guild, and a charter member of St. Mary's Hospital Guild. Survivors include a daughter, Robin Gardiner; three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
