James was born in Richmond, Indiana to Ruby Mildred Moore-Champion and Jesse Raymond Howell. He was in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army, and served in Korea. He was a truck driver for life, ending with a 28-year run for Standard Oil. He was a hunter for many years, loved chocolate and loved to travel (driving of course!).
He was loved by many and will be missed by all. He leaves his four children: Lloyd Lee, Roy Allen, Toni Marie and James Richard; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, July 6, 2015 at Willamette National Cemetery.
