Hubert Wesley Colen, 84, of Fairview, IN passed away at 6:00 AM, Thursday, December 17th, 2015 at his residence. Hubert was born in Dearborn County, IN on November 22, 1931, a son of the late Goldie (Bradley) and Ora Ross Colen. He graduated from Cass Union Grade School in 1944 and from Rising Sun High School in 1949. Hubert enlisted in the United States Navy on January 5, 1951 and served during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged on November 16, 1954. While in service Hubert received National Defense, Good Conduct and Navy Occupation ribbons. Hubert retired from Fernald where he worked as a Chemical Operator. He also drove bus for the Switzerland County School Corporation and was a farmer. Hubert married Juanita (Chase) Colen on January 11, 1958 in East Enterprise, IN. Hubert and Juanita were married over 57 years. Hubert liked watching the Cincinnati Reds and IU Basketball. He also enjoyed gardening and loved his dogs which he treated like family.

Hubert is survived by his wife Juanita Colen of Fairview, IN; by two sons, Timothy W. Colen (Machelle) of Fairview, IN and Stephen A. Colen (Judy) of Tipton, IN; by a sister, Shirley Koons, of Aurora, IN; by two brothers, Gerald "Swede" Colen of Rising Sun and Jerry Colen of Hartford, IN and by several nieces, nephews and friends.

Hubert was preceded in death by his parents, by brothers James, Ora Jr., Paul "Ned", Michael and Harold Colen, and by sisters, Hilda Bovard, Ruth Stem and Barbara Colen.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM, Monday, December 21 at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Rev. John Hundley and Rev. John Blair officiating. Friends are invited to call Sunday 5-8 PM at Markland Funeral Home. Burial will be at Vevay Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Dearborn County Hospice, the Arthritis Foundation or the Crossroads Community Wesleyan Church.
