Altamont - Dr. Joe D. Gray, 84, passed away Sunday December 27, 2015 at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. He was born in Old Hickory, Tennessee on July 26, 1931. He was the current Minister at the Altamont Church of Christ. He was a professor at David Lipscomb University and had taught at other institutions. He was the voice of the Treasure of Truth radio broadcast. He and his family were missionaries to New Zealand. In addition he trained over 125 college students in Project Good News who served as missionaries in over 80 countries.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Clifford and Bertie Mae Hagewood Gray; brother, Frank Clifford Gray; daughter, Jane Lorraine Gray.

He is survived by his wife, Harriette Dickerson Gray; sons, Joseph (Dawn) Gray of Brentwood, Tennessee, Scott Gray, Townsend, Tennessee; daughter, Linda (Doug) Varnado, Hendersonville, Tennessee; sisters, Lorraine Yearwood, Athens, Georgia, Jane Hudson, Brentwood, Tennessee; grandchildren, Jody, Nicholas, Katelin, Paul, Landon, Christian, Elliott, Sara and Leah.
