John Michael Micheli, loving husband and father, died peacefully Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at his home in Live Oak, CA. He was 67.

John was born on November 1, 1948 in Yuba City to Justin and Angeline Micheli. He graduated from Bellarmine College Preparatory in 1966 and received a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Business from the University of California at Davis. He was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity.

John worked in the Sutter County Assessor's office for a short time before joining his father in the family farming operation growing peaches, prunes, walnuts and rice. In 1983 he expanded the operation to include Lomo Cold Storage.

John was a lifelong member of the Live Oak farming community. He served on a number of boards to promote the growth of agriculture in the area. A member of the California Agricultural Leadership Program Class #8, he served on the Pacific Coast Producers board of directors for 18 years. John succeeded his father on the board in December 1997, and was elected to serve as Vice Chairman of the Board in December 2001.

John was a member of the Roseville and California Duck Clubs. His love of dogs and hunting led in recent years to his participation and success in the retriever hunt test world. Two of his dogs competed on the national level, one achieving Hall of Fame status.

John is survived by his wife Susan of Live Oak; two sons and daughters-in law, Justin and Candice Micheli and Angelo and Deborah Micheli, both of Live Oak. In addition, he is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Norman Alberts of Alamo; four grandchildren Olivia, Margaret, Gianna, and John, all of Live Oak and dearly loved nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Justin and Angeline Micheli.

John was laid to rest on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at East Lawn Memorial Park in Sacramento. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Yuba City on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to John's favorite charities.
