James, 74, of Glenmora, entered eternal rest on Monday, December 28, 2015 in the Oakdale Community Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born July 12, 1941 in Glenmora to the union of Hickman David Johnson and Vonnie V (Kirkpatrick) Johnson.
He was a Baptist by faith and member of the Harmony Baptist Church which he served as treasurer for 40 years. James was an active member and served as Past Master of Masonic Lodge #356 F&AM in Glenmora. He was the owner of Country Green for 39 years. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are: his loving wife of 43 years, Ella Gregory Johnson of Glenmora; one son, Jimmy (Pamela) Johnson of Union Hill; one daughter, Judy Johnson of Glenmora; two brothers, Fred (Sue) Johnson of Richmond, Texas and Charles (Patsy) Johnson of Natchitoches; one sister, Mary (Steve) Stokes of Glenmora; granddaughter, Nellie Johnson; three step grandchildren, Katie (Eric) Thompson, Cody (Samantha) Cloud, and Lauren (Garrett) Mitchell; seven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Pallbearers to serve will be Richard Humphries, Curtis Havens, Vernon Atkinson, Marty Martin, Terry Seal, and James Irvine.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 1, 2016 in the Harmony Baptist Church from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m., then on Saturday, January 2, 2016 from 9 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. in the church.
