Mrs. Serpas was born in Philadelphia and lived in New Orleans for 80 years. She was a graduate of Charity Hospital School of Nursing and retired from Charity Hospital. Mrs. Serpas was a member of the Charity Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association and a parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church.
Survivors include three sons, James J. Serpas Jr., Carroll J. Serpas and Albert J. Serpas; a daughter Claire S. Bonee; a sister Margaret Calli; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St., with visitation from 10 a.m., followed by Mass at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church. Burial will be in Garden of Memories.
