Canadian Singer, Talent Manager, and Producer. He is probably best remembered as the manager of the popular Canadian singer Celine Dion from 1981 until 2015. The son of a Syrian immigrant and Lebanese mother, he received his high school education from College Saint-Viateur in Outremont, Montreal, Quebec. He then began a career as a singer and formed a pop rock group called Les Baronets in the 1960s, recording mostly translations of English language pop hits, such as the Beatles "Hold Me Tight." When his group disbanded, he joined with Guy Cloutier and began to manage entertainers, including Rene Simard and Ginette Reno. In 1981 he and Cloutier parted ways and soon afterwards, he heard a demo tape of Celine Dion and became her agent and manager. Following his marriage and divorce with Denyse Duquette (1966 to 1972) and singer Anne Renée (Manon Kirouac, 1974 to 1980), he and Dion were married in 1994. In 1998 he was diagnosed with throat cancer but made a full recovery following treatment. In 1987 and 1988 he received the Félix Award for Manager of the Year and in July 2008 he became the fictional principal for the reality television show "Star Académie" for its 4th season in 2009, filling the principal role in the show's two separate runs in 2009 and 2012.
