ORMOND BEACH -- Ernest P. Winship, 76, of Palmer Drive, who worked for Pizza City in Daytona Beach Shores, died Friday at Halifax Convalescent Center, Daytona Beach.

Born in Danby, Vt., Mr. Winship, a Navy veteran, moved here in 1976 from Manchester, Vt. He also worked as a chef in several restaurants in Florida and Vermont. He was a member of the Congregational Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars, both in Danby. He enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include his sister, Marjorie Fuller, Danby. Memorial donations may be made to the Halifax Humane Society, P.O. Box 9035, Daytona Beach, FL 32120-9035. Volusia Memorial, Ormond Beach, is in charge.

DANBY - Ernest P. Winship, 76, of Ormond Beach, Fla., died June 18, 2004, at Halifax Convalescent Center in Daytona Beach, Fla.

He was born Oct. 10, 1927, in Danby, the son of Ernest and Mildred (Parker) Winship. He worked as a chef in several restaurants in Vermont, New York and Florida.

Mr. Winship was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of the Danby Congregational Church and the Manchester Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 280.

Survivors include a sister, Marjorie Fuller; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Marsha Harrington and Frances House; and two brothers, Richard Winship and Gerald Winship.

The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Danby-Scottsville Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Aldous Funeral Home in Rutland.
