He retired after many years of owning and operating a Waste Disposal business.
He was born Oct. 20, 1929, in Terre Haute, to Edward Padgett and Loetta Foley Padgett.
His wife, Mary Maxine McGranahan Padgett, whom he married on Sept. 3, 1951, preceded him in death on May 29, 1997.
Survivors include 15 children, Kathy Parsons (Chuck), Rose Switzer (Gary), Sue Roberts (Rick), Tom Padgett (Becky), Leona Taylor (Bob), Mary Padgett, John Padgett (Paula), Don Padgett (Becky), Michelle Lee (Tyrone), Frank Padgett (Rita), Robert Padgett, Michael Padgett, Pearl Thomas (John), Brian Padgett and Elvis Padgett (Connie); 43 grandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Padgett; three sisters, Wanda Weaver, Marie Couch and Linda Rowley; and many nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charlie Padgett; and a sister, Sara "Sis" Terrel.
Junior attended the Chapel of Faith Church for many years and also Liggett Full Gospel Church of which his son Tom is the Pastor. Junior was an ordained minister and had served as Pastor at many area Pentecostal Churches. He was very musically inclined as he played the guitar, banjo, steel guitar, and harmonica. A major part of his ministry was he and his family performing gospel music. He also enjoyed camping and throwing horse shoes. He was a family man and his large family was his pride and joy.
Funeral services for Junior will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Wilbur officiating. Burial will be in Bethesda Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until service time Saturday.
