Actor. Born to German parents in Málaga, Spain, he began his acting career on stage and made his screen debut in "Der Marquis von Bolibar" (1921). He went on to appear in over 140 films. When Hitler rose to the power he was briefly imprisoned for his political views, but was soon able to resume his career. Brausewetter's films include "Ein Glass Wasser" (1923), "Faust" (1926), "Svengali" (1927), "Traumulus" (1935), "Kleine Mann-Ganz Gross!" (1938), "Paradies der Junggesellen" (1939), "Liebesschule" (1940), "Münchhausen" (1943), "Der Grüne Salon" (1944) and "Die Tolle Susanne" (1945). He died tragically in Berlin, when an Allied artillery bombardment destroyed his home during the last days of World War II. His sister was silent movie actress Renate Brausewetter.
