Bluefield, WV- Virginia Catherine Cassidy, 92, of Bluefield, WV, died Saturday January 23, 2016 at Mercer Nursing and Rehabilitation in Bluefield, WV.
Born June 26, 1923 in Athens, WV, she was a daughter of the late Albert Beckett and Lelia Martin Beckett.
Mrs. Cassidy was raised in Athens, WV and moved to Bluefield in 1948. She worked as an office clerk for Bluefield Hardware and Mercer County Sherriff’s Department. She was a lifetime P.T.A. officer and worked the polls at the Cumberland Heights precinct.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Frank Cassidy, three sister, Nettie Gilbert, Lucille Wiley and Lorena Wood.
Survivors include three sons, Patrick Cassidy and wife Karen of Weaverville, NC, Thomas Cassidy of Parkland, FL, and James Cassidy and wife Jeanne of Rock Hill, SC; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday January 27, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. from the Mercer Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Ed Fisher officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.
Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV.
