2015 obituary. Margaret Mary Irene Loring Scott, 86. PORTLAND - Mrs. Margaret (Loring) "Reanie" Scott, 86, of Portland, died peacefully on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at her home. A lifelong resident of Portland, Margaret was born on Sept. 26, 1928, to Charles and Irene (Cronin) Loring. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School, class of 1946. Margaret married George W. Scott, Jr. on July 23, 1955, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Together, they shared 53 years of marriage until he predeceased her on Oct. 27, 2008. Margaret worked at WT Grants when she was in high school. After high school, she worked for New England Telephone Company and later Unum, until she retired in 1993. She was an Auxiliary Member of the Charles J. Loring Amvets Post and a member of the Irish American Club of Maine. Margaret was a communicant of St. Pius X Church, where she enjoyed Wednesday afternoon Bingo with her friends. Prior to her involvement at St. Pius, Margaret and her husband were longtime communicants of St. Joseph's Church. Above all else in life, Margaret was devoted to her family and adored her children and grandchildren. She proudly supported her grandchildren in their various sporting events. Her greatest joy in life was when she was able to talk with and spend time with her family. Margaret also enjoyed watching the Red Sox and tennis on television. In addition to her husband, Margaret was predeceased by her sister, Rachel Novetsky, and brothers, Charles, Harold, Richard, Robert and Kenneth Loring. Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, May 15, 2015, from 4-7 p.m. in the Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State St., Portland. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at 10:15 a.m., followed by a 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Pius X Church, 492 Ocean Ave., Portland. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
