Frank S. Behne Sr. age 88, of East Palestine, died at 3:05 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Boardman, Ohio. He was born March 25, 1927, in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of the late William O. and Bertha (Hagerman) Behne.

He worked for Ohio Edison for 40 years, retiring as Superintendent of the Salem District. Frank was a member of the Greenford Lutheran Church and Gustavus Lodge #442 of the Free and Accepted Masons. He was a pilot, built and flew his own planes and also a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association.

He was in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was stationed in Panama during WWII.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Carlson (Griffes) Behne whom he married December 24, 2005. Two sons, Frank S. (Rebecca) Behne Jr. of Youngstown, and John W. (Kathryn) Behne of Orlando, Florida; two daughters, Diane E. (Joe) Matasek of Boardman, and Carol Jean Behne of Hubbard; a stepdaughter, Sandra Davis (Lawrence) Camp of St. Petersburg, Florida, and two stepsons, Jeffrey (Debbie) Earnest of Frazeysburg, and Eric A. (Judy) Earnest of Wernersville, Pennsylvania; and five grandchildren.

His first wife, Pearl Molnar Behne preceded him in death July 8, 2001; five brothers, T. Russell, William, Herbert, Donald, and Neil Behne; and three sisters, Reba Ensell, Freda Lloyd, and Selma Rolland also preceded him in death.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the Greenford Lutheran Church with Pastor Mike Knauff officiating. Calling hours will be held one hour prior to service at the church.
