Mrs. Emil Krnavek Sr., 63, of 4817 Broughton, died at 7:40 p.m. yesterday in a local hospital where she had been since undergoing surgery recently.
A native of Jerrell, Texas, Mrs. Krnavek was a member of a well-known area farming family. She had made her home here for 52 years.
She was a member of the SS. Cyril and Methodius Altar Society and K.J.Z.T. Lodge. She worked for the Corpus Christi public schools for about nine years until retiring in 1969.
Surviving are her husband; four daughters, Misses Theresia and Anna Mae Krnavek, both of Corpus Christi, Mrs. Katherine Garafolo of Seabrook and Mrs. Mary Rita Reeves of Alexandria, La.; six sons, James and Emil Krnavek Jr., both of Seabrook, and Jerome, Thomas, Bernard and Michael Krnavek, all of Corpus Christi; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Chilek of Shiner, Mrs. Tillie Sacky of Edna, Mrs. Herminia Malish of Corpus Christi and Mrs. Martha Vanecek of Sinton; three brothers, John Brezina of Taft, Louis Brezina of Fort Worth and Ivan Brezina of Corpus Christi, and 15 grandchildren.
A Rosary will be recited in the Czech language at 7 :30 p.m. today at the Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Francis J. Kasper. Another Rosary will be recited in English by the Rev. Mark Chamberlain at 8 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Ss Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. Burial will be in Seaside Memorial Park.
