US Congressman. He graduated from Fordham University in 1907, studied law at Columbia University and became a lawyer in 1909. He was a New York State Senator in 1911 and 1912, and again in 1919 and 1920. He was elected to the US House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1922 and was reelected five times, serving from 1923 to 1935. He did not run for reelection in 1934 and practiced law in New York City and Washington, DC.
