US Congressman. He graduated from Union College in 1803, studied law and became an attorney in Poughkeepsie in 1806. He was a member of the New York Assembly in 1820. In 1828 Bockee was elected to the US House of Representatives as a Jacksonian and served one term, 1829 to 1831. He was elected to Congress for the second time in 1832 and reelected in 1834, holding office from 1833 to 1837 and serving as Chairman of the Agriculture Committee. Bockee was a New York Senator from 1840 to 1844 and was elected Judge of the Court of Errors in 1843 and First Judge of Dutchess County in 1846.
