Professional Basketball Player. For five seasons (1985 to 1990), he played at the shooting guard position in the National Basketball Association with the Houston Rockets, Golden State Warriors, Detroit Pistons and Los Angeles Clippers. Born Steven Dwayne Harris, he attended Blue Springs High School in Missouri and played collegiate basketball at the University of Tulsa. While with the Golden Hurricane, Harris led his teams to three NCAA Tournament berths. Individually, he achieved All-American status and All-Missouri Conference honors, while establishing himself as one of the school's all time greats. Selected by Houston as the 19th overall pick during the 1st round of the 1985 NBA Draft, he contributed to the Rockets' reaching of the NBA Finals in 1986. The following season (1986-1987), he produced a career-high 613 points and during the 1988-1989 season, he experienced playing on a world championship team with the NBA Champion Detroit Pistons. He was inducted into the University of Tulsa Athletics Hall of Fame in 1995, in addition to having his uniform number 20 retired by the school. He died following a battle with colon cancer.
