Stella 'Skeeter' Irene Tiller Tidwell, 96, formerly of Colorado City, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 15th after a battle through the stages of Alzheimer's disease.

A memorial service for Irene will be held on Saturday, February 27th at 10 a.m. at the Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.

She was born on August 31, 1919 in Colorado City to John H and Mary E Pettitt Tiller. Irene was the youngest and last survivor of her generation to the Tiller family and was surrounded by a large, loving and exceptional family. She lived in and around Colorado City until 1952, was a graduate of Colorado ISD and married her husband Lester Tidwell in 1939, who preceded her in death in 1956. Irene and Lester spent the majority of their years together in the area until they went to live in Grand Prairie in 1952, where she stayed for 60 years until she joined her son in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin.

She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Robert Tidwell; her sisters, Sadie Tiller Venus, Mamie Tiller Boyd, Annie May Tiller Brown, Blanche Tiller O'Neal; and by her brothers, Elzie Tiller, Homer Morris Tiller, Buck Tiller and John Ellis Tiller Sr.

Irene was survived by her children, Carol Smith and husband Robert of Memphis, Tennessee, and James Truett Tidwell and wife Diane of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. Also surviving are her grandchildren, David Tidwell of Memphis, Tennessee, James Tidwell and wife Anne of Louisville, Kentucky and several great-grandchildren.
