Entertainer. A singer, actress and television personality, she enjoyed a lengthy career on the Broadway stage, in addition to co-hosting the TV game program "Winner Takes All" (1951). Born Elizabeth Jane Watson, she trained as a vocalist at the American Conservatory of Music. She earned first place in a high school singing contest and two years later, she met singer Tony Martin who led her to national exposure as she sang with his band on a radio program in Chicago. This event resulted with her big break on stage as she replaced Joan Roberts in the role of 'Laurey' in the successful production "Oklahoma!" (1943 to 1948). This was followed with "Toplitzkov of Notre Dame" (1946 to 1947), "Sleepy Hollow" (1948) and "As the Girls Go" (1948 to 1950). During the 1950s, she began a more than two decade successful career on the national night club circuit and appeared on such TV programs as "Ed Sullivan's Toast of the Town" and "Morey Amsterdam's Hilarities." In addition to singing, she experienced an acting role in a 1953 episode of the TV series "Suspense." Her final Broadway credit was the long running "Sail Away" (1961 to 1962). She was the cousin of actress Jean Stapleton.
