Brother Dies In Wichita Monday

Albert Newton Johnson, 74, died in a Wichita hospital Monday. A retired farmer, born at Nevada, Mo, April 15, 1871, he came to Wichita about two months ago and had resided at 1817 North Ash.

Johnson came to Kansas with his parents as a child when the family homesteaded near Rose Hill. He broke sod with oxen while helping his father on the homestead. He was a member of the Rose Hill Methodist church.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs Martha Elizabeth, of the home, four daughters, Mrs. Stella Kreeger, Augusta, Mrs Martha Allen, Wichita, Mrs. Pearla Mitchell, Little Rock, Ark, Mrs. Flora McCumpsey, Little Rock; two sons, Lee Johnson, Carthage, Mo and Joe Johnson, Little Rock; five sisters, Mrs Pearl Goldsberry, Wichita, Mrs Myrtle Warrender, El Dorado, Mrs Mary Lehr, Augusta, Mrs Grace Brower, Wichita, and Mrs Gertrude Jones, Rose Hill, and three brothers, Kent Johnson, Rose Hill, Edward Johnson, Oakland, Calif, and Gilbert Johnson, Wichita.

Funeral services will be held at the Culbertson mortuary in Wichita at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Interment will be made in the Dunlap cemetery at Rose Hill.

[Note: Pearla and Flora were actually Albert's stepdaughters by his second wife, Martha Eizabeth "Lizzie".]
