US Congressman. A member of the Democratic Party, he served in the US House of Representatives from New York's 5th congressional district from January 1949 until December 1951. After receiving his law degree from Fordham University of Law at Manhattan, New York City, New York in 1924, he began practicing law and served as the Assistant District Attorney of Queens County, New York from September 1931 until August 1934, and the Assistant US Attorney for New York's Eastern District from 1934 until 1947. In 1948 he ran as the Democratic nominee for Congress and won, defeating incumbent Republican Robert T. Ross. He was re-elected in 1950 but resigned his seat in December 1951 to become the Queens County District Attorney, serving from 1952 until 1955. He later served as a judge with the New York City Magistrates' Court (1957 until 1962) and the Criminal Court (1962 until 1972), after which he retired and moved to Venice, Florida. He died at the age of 78.
