John M. Early, a resident of Loleta, died Feb. 28, 1972, in Eureka. Husband of the late Margaret L. Early, who preceded him in death in 1950. Father of Edgar D. Early, Mrs. Virginia Berti, and Harold Early, all of Fortuna. Brother-in-law of Mrs. Stella Early of Price Creek. He is survived by 20 great grandchildren and numerous other relatives.
A native of Springfield, Illinois, Mr. Early moved with his family as a small child to Humboldt County, settling at Grizzly Bluff in 1875. He moved to Loleta in 1914 and started Early's Garage in 1916. He was Justice of the Peace of the Table Bluff Township for over 20 years, and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Age 98.
Rosary will be recited in the Chapel of Goble's Fortuna Mortuary on Wed., March 1, at 8:30 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be offered at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Thurs., March 2 at 10:00 a.m. with the Reverend Father Norman Van Sile, celebrant, with interment following at St. Bernard's Catholic church.
