Professional Football Player. For five seasons (1968 to 1974), he played at the defensive back position in the American, Canadian and National Football Leagues with the Kansas City Chiefs, Edmonton Eskimos and San Francisco 49ers. Born Caesar Edward Belser, he attended George Washington Carver High School in Alabama and played collegiate football at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Selected by the Washington Redskins during the 10th round of the 1966 NFL Draft, he ended up with Kansas City and went on to experience a world championship with the Chiefs during the 1969 season, which culminated with a win over the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl IV (January 1970). Highly-durable, he put together a consecutive game streak which spanned four seasons (1968 to 1971). Following his retirement from football, he worked as a manager with Southwestern Bell Yellow Pages. Belser died of complications from lung cancer but had suffered from dementia during his final years, possibly caused from his football career. His brain was donated to the University of Texas Southwestern for research on Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy. His son Jason Belser was a former NFL player.
