Harold Lloyd Gilbert, 83, went home to be with the Lord on January 8, 2010 in Houston, TX.

He was born on November 12, 1926 in Commerce, TX. Harold was the son of Horace and Altus Gilbert. He is survived by his wife, Sara; daughters, Lisa Lauve and Diana Neely, both of Richmond, TX; grandchildren, Daniel Lauve of Austin, TX; Alicia and Christina Lauve of Pearland, TX and Eric and Cecilia Neely of Richmond, TX; brother, Clarence Gilbert of Tyler, TX and sister Dortha Erwin of Fort Worth, TX.

Harold was a graduate of Commerce High School and Southern Methodist University with a degree in civil engineering. He joined the Navy at age 17 and he also served in the Army. He worked as a civil engineer in highway construction. He enjoyed gardening, dominoes, puzzles and he was an avid sports fan, but, most of all, he treasured his family.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at2 PM at the Chapel of Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery. Donations may be made on his behalf.
