Son of Harvey Carman and Margaret Ellen Sharp. Allen was the brohter of William L, Henry Enoch, Joshua, Caleb, John, Priscilla Wallace, and Sarah Elizabeth Carman. The family came to Texas around 1895, settling in Anna, Texas.

Allen married Clara Ethel Burks on March 21, 1914 in Collin County, Texas. To this union, 6 children were born: Margie Opal, Edith Modine, Buna Fay,Hollis Quentin,
Charlsie Alene, and Gwendean Carmen The family lived in the Collin Co., area for 10 years, relocating to Roscoe, Texas around 1926. Allen was a farmer, dedicated famiy man. A member of the Wastella Baptist Church.

He died in the Young Hospital in Roscoe from a stroke and a weakened heart.
