Elder brother of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, Michele Forgione was married to Giuseppa Cardone (1884 - 1946). Moving to San Giovanni Rotondo in his later years, he died there on May 9, 1967 aged 85. Buried inside the local cemetery, alongside his younger sister Suor Pia, they are the only two of the Forgione siblings to lie alongside their parents in the city that was home to their Saint Pio from 1916 until his death in 1968.
