Colorado Springs Gazette, July 11, 1995, Sect. B, pg. 4, col.2. Eva “Alice” Hughes, 71, of Colorado Springs, died July 7, 1995. She was a civil service worker at the Fort Carson Dental Clinic before her retirement.
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Swan-Law Cascade Chapel, 501 N Cascade Ave, with Chaplain James R. Brown officiating. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
Mrs. Hughes was born Feb. 19, 1924, in Shreveport, La., to Posey Franklin Sr. and Lillian (Brock) Kerr.
She was married May 16, 1975, in Colorado Springs to retired Air Force Col. Lloyd C. Hughes, who survives. She was formerly married to Frank Scariano of Fort Collins.
Mrs. Hughes is also survived by a son, Richard Scariano of Grand Junction; three daughters, Susan Scariano Postlewate of Aurora, Lisa Scariano Russell of Grand Junction and Shelly Scariano Pierson of Colorado Springs. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Mrs. Hughes completed 3 ½ years of education at Louisiana State University; she moved to this area in 1963. She enjoyed gardening, needlework and motorhome travel with her husband.
