JULIA married FRED D. WALTER, and they had six children:

LOUELLA, LOUISE, JESSIE, LEOLA (my mother), WALTER DELAND, and FRED, JR. With the exception of FRED, JR., they were all born in or near Brady, Texas. The family moved to Taft, California, where my grandfather, FRED, SR., worked for the City of Taft as the local Pound Master.

My grandmother was kind, patient, generous and loving. She was also an excellent cook and doting grandmother.
===============================

When my grandfather passed away in 1950, my grandmother sold her house and moved into an apartment, being very self-sufficient and independent for a many years. Subsequently, however, she moved into a retirement/nursing home. It was amazing how well she got around and how stable her health was. She loved being around people at the home, because there was always something going on. There were lots of visitors stopping by continually and she loved that

Everything was going great... so we (the family) were completely shocked when we were notified that grandma had been taken to the hospital after a fall. She had been using the phone in a phone booth, and when she stepped out the door of the booth, she tripped and fell breaking her hip. The trauma and shock ultimately resulted in major organs shutting down, and she died within four days. The family was absolutely devastated. She was 84, but she was very active and sharp-witted. She outlived my grandfather FRED by sixteen years.
===============================

JULIA was survived by her six children:
LOUELLA BOLLS; LOUISE GRAHAM; JESSIE CALDWELL; LEOLA ABLES; WALTER D. WALTER; and FRED D. WALTER, JR.

She was survived by seven grandchildren:
BETTE SINCLAIR; BEVERLY (Ables) ADKINS; ARTHUR D. WALTER; JAMES D. WALTER; NANCY WALTER; FREDDA WALTER; BONNIE S. GRAHAM; and several great-grandchildren.
