Obituary for Carolyn Renner
Carolyn “Sue” Renner, 77 of Coldwater passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at the Community Health Center of Branch County while surrounded by her loving family.
A memorial celebration of life will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Lockwood Community Church in Coldwater with Pastor Shayne Looper officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. Visitation will be Monday, February 22, 2016 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater from 4:00 – 7:00 PM.
Carolyn was born May 15, 1938 to James and Virginia (Woodcox) Wooster in Sturgis. She graduated from Coldwater High School in 1956 and then married Robert D. Gray in June. He preceded her in death on October 28, 1999. Sue married Rodney Renner on April 7, 1978 in Adrian. They owned and operated a bowling alley, Mor-N-C Lanes in Morenci for 22 years before selling and moving back to Coldwater in 1999. Shortly after retirement, Sue decided to go back to work at Century Bank. She started as a teller and worked her way up to being a Branch Manager before retiring in 2009.
Sue was a very active woman. She enjoyed golf and bowling. Sue served many duties with the Coldwater Women’s Bowling Leagues, being both Treasurer of the Association and Secretary in leagues. She was also elected into the Coldwater Bowling Hall of Fame. Sue attended Lockwood Community Church for many years and was a member of the Coldwater Eagles Auxiliary. She and Rod enjoyed going fishing, and Sue also helped with the cleaning and cooking when they finished for the day. Sue will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Sue was very outgoing, easy to laugh and always had a smile on her face. She will be missed by many.
Mrs. Renner is survived by her husband of 37 years Rodney Renner of Quincy; her children Jeff (Theresa) Gray of Quincy, Chris (Linda) Gray of Coldwater, Dan (Dawn) Gray of Quincy, and Todd (Cathy) Gray of Coldwater; 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews; and her life-long friend Marilyn Shiery. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother James A. Wooster; her step-sons Jeffrey Renner and Martin Renner; and her niece Teri Wooster.
