Florence became a mother after almost 20 years of marriage.
Sadly, she died very soon after childbirth. Her daughter Idonna Marie Johnson Tryon survived, and was raised by Florence's sister, Lucille Elizabeth Kaney Twombley and Lucille's husband Maxwell Clifford Twombley, whom Idonna called Mommy and Papa.

After Florence's death, her husband, George Martin Johnson, later remarried at least twice. His last marriage was to Margaret Seward Johnson.
