Barbara Mae Whitehead, affectionately called ""Bobbie," was born on June 22, 1921 in Key West. A life-long resident of Key West, she departed this life on Feb. 20, 2002, at Lower Keys Medical Center after an extended illness.
Bobbie made an impact on the lives of all who were graced with her presence. She will always be remembered and appreciated.
Bobbie was a member of the Key West United Methodist Church and she owned and operated Bobbie's Beauty Salon. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and many friends, especially those at Dennis Pharmacy.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Whitehead; five sisters, Violet Olson, Margarite Valasquez, Doris Neblett, Anita Carpenter and Lula McClintock; and three brothers, Raymond, Percy and Billy Lones.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Helen (Russell) Barker and Leahdorne Blackmore, both of Key West; six grandchildren, Barbara (Rick) Naffziger of Richmond, Va., Robert (Renee), of Bear Lake, Mich., Jennifer (Brett), of Rosebush, Mich., Michael Barker, of Emporium, Penn., Barbara (Dr. William) Moore, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Leahdorne (Dennis) Lopez, of Big Pine Key, Fla.; 10 great-grandchildren, Russell and Michael Barker, Erica, Katie and William Moore, Denise and Daniel Lopez, Kayla and Ryan Sykora and Preston Naffziger; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of loving friends.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday in the Castillo & Thurston's Chapel at the Corner of Whitehead Street and Truman Avenue.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. on Monday at Key West United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Wedd officiating.
