Monico Padilla Carabajal passed away Friday, April 29, 2016, at 73. He was born March 12, 1943, to Monico O. Carabajal and Maria A. Padilla in Dona Ana County in southern New Mexico. He was a longtime resident of Las Cruces until relocating back to Dona Ana County in 1995 where he worked for the city of Las Cruces. He played in a musical band known as "Los Alegres" and was an avid guitar player.

He is survived by his wonderful wife of 56 years, Rachel Carabajal; one son Ralph Carabajal; one daughter Belinda Lucero; numerous grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family members and friends. A funeral service officiated by Ray Garza will be held on Thursday May 5, 2016, at La Paz-Graham's Funeral Home to begin at noon, with a committal service to be held at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be Ralph Carabajal, Richard Lucero, Richard Lucero Jr., Paul Lucero, Anthony Lara, Isaiah Carabajal, and honorary pallbearer will be Pepe Crespin.
