Richard "Dickie" Edward Arnold, Jr. Age 67, passed away May 17, 2016 in Douglasville, GA at Douglasville Hospital after an extended illness related to injuries sustained during a car wreck in 1971. For the last six years, Richard and his wife, Jeannie had been living at Wesley Wood Senior Community in Newnan, GA to be closer to his daughters.

Preceded in death by his parents, Sally and Eddy Arnold. Survived by his wife, Jeannie Burns Arnold, children Diane Tant Daniel (Marty), Ray Tant (Betsy) and Anne Marie Tant Finley, grandchildren Robert Finley, Eleanor Tant, McLean Tant, Nathan Finley, and Nancy Tant, his sister Joan Arnold Pollard (Richard), nephew R. Shannon Pollard (Anissa), niece Michelle Pollard, great nieces Katie Pollard, Rowan Pollard and Sophie Pollard and great nephew, Ben Johns, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, as well as his beloved classmates from BGA and the University of Alabama.

Dickie was born in Nashville, Tennessee on January 2, 1949, and grew up in Brentwood. A 1967 graduate of Battle Ground Academy, he was part of their state championship football team in 1966. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a BS in Public Relations/Journalism. He was a member of the 1967 Class of Sigma Alpha Epsilon at the University of Alabama and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Shortly after graduation Richard was seriously injured in an automobile accident and resuscitated. Although he suffered lifelong injuries, Richard was blessed with many friends and loved ones that helped him live an adventurous, active and fulfilling life. After dating Jeannie for 15 years, they married on Leap Year in 1996. Richard and Jeannie celebrated their 5th wedding anniversary last February. Richard was retired from the Metro Court System where he served as a Deputy Clerk. He loved his BGA, Bama, Titans football, but most of all his devoted wife, Jeannie.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3001 Belmont Blvd, Nashville, TN 37212 with the Most Reverend David R. Choby, Celebrant. Internment will immediately follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be classmates from BGA and Honorary pall bearers are members of the 1967 SAE pledge class.
