Born June 12, 1908 at Alton, Illinois, died peacefully on May 30 at her home at Casa Dorinda in Santa Barbara. Her primary role was wife to her husband of more than 50 years, Shirley Christopher Ward, and mother to two daughters, Anne Ward Heryer and Lynn Ward Barrow. As a girl she attended Marlborough School for Girls and Bennett College. She worked in the field of interior decoration before her marriage. Most of her life was spent in Los Angeles and Pasadena. Among the things that she loved were family and friends, dancing, rocky road ice cream, apple green, the Dodgers, Palm Desert, playing bridge, knitting, flowers and beautiful surroundings. Ruth Ward was known to her friends for her warmth, integrity and her ready laugh. She will be sorely missed. Her parents, John Henry Moulton and Blanche Everts Moulton, along with her brothers Jack and Everts and beloved husband Shirley Ward predeceased her. She is survived by her daughters Anne and Lynn and her sister, Nancy Moulton Hudson, her grandchildren Mark and Daniel Hersey and Ted Barrow, two great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Polytechnic School of Pasadena or the Red Cross in her name.
