Nominally, the uncrowned King of England for a few hours on Oct. 14, 1066, he was later to serve as Earl of Oxford for about two years. Edgar was born about 1051. Malcolm III, "Canmore," King of Scots, married Edgar's oldest sister, named Margaret. Their daughter (Edgar's niece) was destined to marry King Henry I of England.
