Rex A. Newingham, 89, of Spring Church, Kiski Township, died at 2:08 p.m. Saturday (June 8, 2002) in the West Haven Nursing Home, Washington Township.

Born May 24, 1913, in Apollo, he lived in Spring Church and Apollo all of his life.

Before retiring in 1980, he owned and operated Newingham's Market in Apollo for 30 years. He also was an auditor for the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, Greensburg, for five years.

Mr. Newingham was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Apollo, and 20-year member of the Spring Church Beagle Club where he was president.

Survivors include a son, Richard L. Newingham of Spring Church; two grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a sister, Louise Stoughton of Apollo.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Young Newingham in 1983; his parents, Ralph and Ida Duncan Newingham; four brothers, Floyd, Arthur, Clinton and Clair Newingham; and a sister, Genevieve Beck.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 1 p.m. until a service at 2 p.m Tuesday in the GERALD J. MEDICE FUNERAL HOME, 604 Moore Ave., North Apollo. Officiating will be his pastor, the Rev. Charles Horn. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Kiski Township.
