Dr. Thurston Adams, age 92, of Pine Apple, Alabama passed away in Atlanta, Georgia February 19, 1998. Doc was the father of W. Sam Adams, Oshkosh.
Dr. Adams was born October 12, 1905 in Pine Apple, Al. After graduating from Moore Academy, Pine Apple, he received a B.S. degree from Auburn University, and an M.A. and Ed.D. from Columbia Un diversity. He held many positions in education starting in Foley, Alabama, as football coach where he received a listing int he Guinness Book of World Records for having more consecutive victories than any other high school football coach in 1928.
His later positions were Directo rof Recreation for Rye County Day School of Rye, New York, faculty member at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, and twenty years as Director of Student Activities at the University of Miami.
Dr. Adams was also very active in the US Navy during World War II and in the Navy reserves. He rose to the rank of Captain in his 28 years of service.
He married Dorothy Moore in May 1943 who had three children: George Moore, Peggy (Moore) Sherry and Sam Adams (adopted by Dr. Adams several years later). Mrs. Adams and Mrs. Sherry live in Atlanta.
Dr. Adams was a teacher, coach, advisor, and a humanitarian but most of all he was loved for his devotion to his wife and family. His marvelous outlook on life can never be replaced.

Thurston Adams, 92, of Roswell died Thursday. The body will be cremated. Memorial service 3pm Sunday, Chambrel at Roswell; National Cremation Society.
