Mrs. Catherine Border Roberts who died on July 21, 1920, at Austin, lived in three stirring periods of Texas history, namely, the Republic, the Confederacy, and the Reconstruction Period after the War 1861 - 1865.
She was born in Greensbora, Hale County, Alabama, on February 20, 1829, and came to Texas in 1841. She married John P. Border on March 5, 1844: married Ex-Governor O. M. Roberts November 17, 1887.
Her death marks the passing of a truly gentle, gracious, and gifted woman, whose life was full of modesty, sincerity, hospitality, and good deeds manifold.
