Born the son of actors Bill Bixby and his first wife, Brenda Benet, who were married on July 4, 1971, after having met on the set of "The Courtship of Eddie's Father." She gave birth to Christopher in Los Angeles three years later, and both parents doted on him. They, however, divorced in 1979 and shared custody of their son. In the spring of 1981, when he was six, Christopher went on a weekend trip to Mammoth Lakes ski resort with his mother, when he became desperately ill. Rushed to the hospital, he died as a result of a severe throat infection in the waiting room outside the hospital's emergency department. Bixby once bitterly told an interviewer; "My son suffocated while the doctor inside...was removing a splinter from the finger of another doctor." His ashes were scattered in the Pacific as his grandfather's had been and his father's would be. The article posted at the left might not be entirely accurate, I just haven't been able to change it.
