Singer, Entertainer. Born María Yáñez in Cuevas de Almanzora, Almería, Spain, she was known as "La Bella Dorita" ("The Beautiful Dorita"). For most of her long career she was based in Barcelona, Spain, where she performed at the El Molino Theatre during the 1940s and 1950s. She was often compared to American actress Mae West for her racy sense of humour. Yanez is best remembered for her hit songs "Fumando Espero", "La Pulga", "El Tren", and "La Vaselina". In 1991 she was awarded the Medal to the Artistic Excellence. She died at the age of 100.
