Born in St-Léonard-Parent, New Brunswick, on September 30, 1917, Lionel was a son of the late Alfred and Clarina (Oullette) Cormier and the husband of the late Rose (Martin) Cormier who died in 1993. He resided on the seacoast for the past four decades, working as a tree- cutting specialist. He loved working, garden- ing, hunting, and fishing, and was a parishion- er at the Church of the Immaculate Concep- tion.

Lionel was survived by a son, Steven Cormier and his wife Joetta of Kensington, New Hamp- shire; three brothers, Gérard Cormier of Ontar- io, Canada, Lucien Cormier of Hartford, Con- necticut, and Fernand Cormier of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada; two sisters, Rita (Cormier) Bélanger of Lac Baker, New Brunswick, Cana- da, and Édwina (Cormier) Roy of Sherbrooke, Québec, Canada; two grandchildren, Joey Cormier and Alicia Cormier of Kensington; and several nieces and nephews.
