ACORS, Irvin Eugene, 79, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016. He was born in Richmond and was a resident of Hampton for 40 years. Irvin was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Hampton Ward and served as a Patriarch. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as MSgt. after 23 years, and then began a second career with the U.S. Postal Service and retired again after 20 years of service. After his retirements, Irvin worked as a funeral associate with Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home until his passing. He enjoyed playing basketball and had coached his church team, baseball, taking care of his yard, and being outdoors. Irvin was the last of 13 siblings. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rita Gladys Acors; daughters, Becky Lou McDowall and husband, Gary, of England, and Lynnette Christine Dillabough and husband, Dennis Dale, of Washington; grandchildren, Ella, Rosie, Ammon, Emily and Cyrus; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 15, 2016, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Irvin's life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1510 Todds Lane, in Hampton. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions in the name Irvin Acors may be made to HUGS (hugslove.org) or the Air Force Aid Society (afas.org).
