Kenneth “Craig” Mayberry, 59, of Taylorsville, passed away in Gordon Hospice House, in Statesville, on Tuesday, July 12, 2016.
He was born on January 17, 1957, son of the late Joe Bill Mayberry and Pearl Moose Mayberry, who survives.
He was an active member of East Taylorsville Baptist Church. Craig’s career spanned Clayton Marcus Furniture Company, Royal Comfort Seating, and before retirement was Purchasing Agent for Alexander County Government. He was very active in the Alexander County Republican Party and served as a county commissioner from 1986-1998, as well as an Alexander County School Board member from 2000-2008.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Diane Dagenhart.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Mayberry is survived by his wife, Donna D. Mayberry of the home; two sons, Kenneth Mayberry II and Kyle Mayberry, both of Taylorsville; a daughter, Kaitlyn Mayberry of Taylorsville; a sister, Judy Mayberry (David) Moose of Stony Point; four brothers, Steve of Statesville, Richard of Stony Point, Eddie of Hickory, and Jerry (Bonnie) of Stony Point; his father and mother-in-law, James and Glenda Drum; and a brother-in-law, Rodney Drum.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 15, 2016, from 6-8 p.m., at East Taylorsville Baptist Church, with the funeral service on Saturday, July 16, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. The body will lie in state thirty minutes before the funeral hour. Rev. Jamie Steele, Rev. Kevin White, and Rev. James Earl Pennell will officiate. Burial will be in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are: Stan Johnson, Robert Robertson, Rick Childers, Destry Moose, Stacy Marshall, Stewart Akers, Scott Bowman, and Alan Beasley.
Honorary pallbearers are: Steve Teague, David Starnes, Dennis Rhyne, Ken Church, Jim Lowe, Alan Sigmon, Dale Johnson, Jerry Watts, Guy Kerley, Fred Ballard, Lynn Marshall, Norman Sloan, and Clint Mayberry.
Memorials may be given to Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simmonton Rd, Statesville, NC, 28625; or Alexander County Education Foundation, Children’s Benevolence Fund in care of Alexander County Schools, 700 Liledoun Rd., Taylorsville, NC 28681.
