Alexander was the son of Jonathan Alexander Ohnmeiss and Christiana Rahrer/Rehrer.
Margaret Jessie (Ohnmeiss) Fox, said that "Alec", operated a mill in South America in June 1931. She didn't know what kind of mill it was.

Ship records indicate he departed Kingston, 12 June 1931 and arrived at Philadelphia on 17 June 1931 on the ship "SS Sixaola". He is listed as one of 5 Americans sailing as a "Cabin Passenger" from Columbia to Philadelphia. Age is listed as 67 (sic), Single, Place of Birth: Carroll Pa. - Feb 19, 1865. His destination is listed as 210 W. Gibson St., Canandaigua, NY (i.e. his sister Katie Blint's home). He was to die at his sister's house about 8 months later.

From the Canandaigua newspaper obituary: "death occurred at 5 o'clock this morning (Weds) 3 Feb 1932 at the home of his sister, Mrs. Kate (Ohnmeiss) Blint, after a lingering illness. He worked for some time in South America. He came to Canandaigua 9 years ago. Survived by his widow, 1 son, Harold of St. Louis, 3 daughters, Mrs. Helen Dugan, Pittsburgh, Mrs. William Powell, Bernardville, New Jersey & Mrs. Geraldine Ohnmeis of Crafton, Pennsylvania."

He died at the age of: 66 years, 11 months, 15 days. Cause of death: Pulmonary Tuberculosis
