William “Willie” LaRonde, 17, of Worcester, passed away Saturday, June 18th 2011 in the University of Massachusetts Hospital with his family by his side from injuries suffered when he fell from his skateboard and struck his head.

Willie was born December 12, 1993, in Worcester and presently a student of the St. Peter –Marian, Junior Class, where he was a member of the Bowling Team, Golf team and volunteer for Guardians for Life.

Willie is survived by his cherished family; his parents, George and Janet (Poce) LaRonde; his brother, George C. LaRonde of Worcester; his sister, Nicole A. LaRonde-Halliday and her husband John of Webster; a nephew, Vincent and a niece, Ashlynn; his paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Elaine (Berryman) LaRonde; his maternal grandparents , William Poce, Estelle Bernier and her husband Eddie; Many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends including Kaitlyn Flaherty, Devon Leland and Danielle Tarckini. An aunt, whom he shared a special bond Donna Campomizzi , Aunt Kathleen Mathisen and an uncle Michael Poce predeceased him.

Willie was a member and former alter server for St Stephen’s Church. Willie volunteered his time to many community activities including the Special Olympics, and Worcester Animal Rescue League and the Liturgical Choir. He enjoyed fishing with friends Scott Abrahamson and Joe Navin and sports especially Baseball and Basketball. Willie was gifted in music playing the guitar and ukulele and liked listening to the Beatles.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Wednesday, June 22nd from 3 pm to 8 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral Mass will be held Thursday, June 23rd at 11:00 am in St Stephen Church, 357 Grafton St. (please go directly to church). Burial will follow in St John Cemetery. Memorial remembrances in his name may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden St. Worcester 01606.
