Major League Baseball Player. Real name Edward Joseph Mayoski. He was an infielder for nine seasons (1936 to 1938, to 1943 to 1948) with the New York Giants, Boston Braves, Philadelphia Athletics, and Detroit Tigers. He was a member of the 1945 World Champion Tigers and the 1936 National League Pennant-winning Giants. During the 1945 World Series, he played in all 7 games and had 7 hits with a .250 batting average. After retiring as a player, Mayo coached for four seasons (1951 to 1954) with the Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies. At the time of his death, Mayo was the eighth oldest living former major league player.
